On February 4, 2025, a incident occurred during the burial ceremony of the late Kpamor Professor J.T. Orkar in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, as local youths exhibited robust support for Governor Hyacinth Alia in response to mockery from a prominent politician.
The politician identified as Hon. Arch. Asema Achado, a member representing Gwer West/Gwer East in the Federal House of Representatives, encountered considerable opposition from the youths who sought to express their allegiance to the governor.
Eyewitness told Circleson Television that Arch. Achado faced intense rejection from the community, particularly from the youth, who articulated their steadfast support for Governor Alia.
One resident, speaking on the condition of anonymity, emphasized the necessity of unifying behind Governor Alia and urged Achado to collaborate with the governor in addressing the ongoing challenges posed by Fulani militia within the region, which falls under Achado's federal constituency.
Consequently, Arch. Achado was compelled to relinquish the microphone and vacate the stage as he navigated through a crowd of youths who appeared prepared to confront him.
The attendees voiced their solidarity with the governor through chants, including "Ior ve de u zan Alia yol," which translates to "People should desist from distracting Alia."
Rodney Songu, the leader of the "The Alia the Better" youth group, issued a resolute admonition to politicians attempting to undermine Governor Alia's initiatives, asserting, "Enough is enough."
He conveyed that the youth of Benue are committed to defending the Alia administration against unfounded criticism and derision.
