Scott Perry, an American Republican Congressman, in recent allegations, has accused former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden's administration of utilizing the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funding to support Boko Haram to destabilize Nigeria.
Perry further contends that during the previous administration, there was financial support provided to Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other terrorist organizations amounting to $697 million annually through USAID.
Boko Haram is an extremist organization that has significantly impacted Nigeria since its inception, infamous for its violent insurgencies, bombings, and the abduction of civilians, most notably the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Chibok in 2014.
The attacks from Boko Haram over the years have resulted in peace instability within Nigeria and its neighboring regions, leading to extensive humanitarian crises and the displacement of millions of people in the last two decades.
