A Delta Air Lines passenger aircraft experienced a crash landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, as reported by the airport authority. The aircraft overturned upon landing, resulting in injuries to at least eight individuals, according to local news sources.
The Endeavor Flight 4819 was arriving in Toronto, Canada’s largest city, from Minneapolis, Minnesota when the incident occurred. Public broadcaster CBC noted that a total of eight individuals sustained injuries, including three individuals in critical condition, one of whom was a child. These individuals were subsequently transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Visual coverage from the scene depicted passengers emerging from the overturned aircraft, shielding themselves from strong winds. The airport authority stated on social media platform X, “Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Air Lines plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew members are accounted for.”
A passenger on the flight, John Nelson, shared a video of the incident on Facebook, reporting, “Our plane crashed. It is upside down.” He further noted, “Most individuals appear to be alright. We are all disembarking.”
Delta Air Lines acknowledged reports indicating that the flight had been involved in the incident and committed to providing additional information as it becomes available. Federal Transport Minister Anita Anand confirmed that there were a total of 80 passengers aboard the flight.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed relief that there were no fatalities resulting from this incident at Toronto Pearson and noted that airport and local authorities were rendering assistance. It is important to consider that a significant snowstorm had impacted eastern Canada the previous day, leading to strong winds and severe cold temperatures, which were still being experienced in Toronto on Monday.
