Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule Swears In 15 New Commissioners

On February 21, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State administered the oath of office to 15 newly appointed commissioners, who will serve as members of the State Executive Council. The State House of Assembly had initially screened and confirmed 16 nominees; however, one nominee, Princess Margaret Elayo, was unable to attend the ceremony for reasons that were not specified.

During the swearing-in ceremony held at the City Hall in Lafia, the state capital, Governor Sule encouraged the newly appointed commissioners to eschew corrupt practices while fulfilling their responsibilities. He emphasized that his administration is committed to principles of accountability, transparency, and prudent resource management, asserting that any form of corruption would not be tolerated.

The Governor stated that the selection of the commissioners resulted from extensive consultations with stakeholders across all 13 Local Government Areas of the state. He urged the commissioners to demonstrate dedication and a results-oriented approach in their roles, reiterating the importance of maintaining integrity in public service.

Furthermore, Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration's commitment to implementing various policies and programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Nasarawa State.

  1. Yakubu Kwanta (Akwanga LG) - Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development
  2. Tanko Tunga (Awe LG) - Commissioner for Land and Urban Development
  3. Hajiya Munirat Abdullahi (Doma LG) - Commissioner for Finance and Budget
  4. Gabriel Agbashi (Doma LG) - Commissioner for Science and Technology
  5. Isaac Amadu (Karu LG) - Commissioner for Environment
  6. Ibrahim Tanko (Keffi LG) - Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism
  7. Dr. John Mamman (Kokona LG) - Commissioner for Education
  8. Aminu Maifata (Lafia LG) - Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs
