The Executive Chairman of Makurdi Local Government, Hon. Joseph Keffi Apev, has condemned the recent violent altercation associated with alleged cult activities in the Wadata area of Makurdi, characterizing the incident as barbaric.
Hon. Keffi addressed members of the press today, revealing that approximately five persons were reportedly killed in Wadata at around 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 10, 2025, due to the purported cult clash.
The Chairman elaborated that the conflict originated on an island in the River Benue, where two cult groups were allegedly convening for a meeting. Disagreements arose between the groups, which subsequently led to the fatalities occurring at various locations.
At the time of this report, Hon. Keffi had instructed security personnel to deploy to the affected areas to restore order. He urged the families of the victims to remain composed, assuring them that an investigation is already underway and that those identified as responsible will be held fully accountable under the law.
