The Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) has appointed Professor Adamu Ahmed as the new Vice-Chancellor.
According to a statement released by the university's Director of Public Affairs, Malam Auwalu Umar, on Wednesday, he will succeed Professor Kabir Bala who has been the University vice-chancellor since March 2020.
The appointment was officially revealed during the 209th (Special) Council meeting, which was presided over by Chairman Mahmud Yayale Ahmed.
Professor Ahmed, who is a faculty member in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, has previously held the position of Director of the Directorate of University Advancement.
He serves as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kano.
His appointment has received positive feedback from stakeholders, who regard him as a seasoned academic and administrator.
A source close to the university remarked to Circleson Television, "Professor Ahmed is a round peg in a round hole. He possesses the necessary experience, expertise, and dedication to lead Ahmadu Bello University towards achieving its goals."
