The Ogun State Police Command announced on Monday that it has declared the controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as “Portable,” wanted due to his alleged involvement in a violent attack on government officials executing their official duties.
The declaration was communicated through a statement issued by the spokesperson for the state police command, Omolola Odutola.
According to Odutola, on February 5, 2025, at approximately 10:00 hours, three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, specifically from the Ota Zonal Office—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement operation in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota. During this operation, they encountered an elderly man, later identified to be Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar.
The statement detailed that upon identifying themselves and requesting the approved building plan, the elderly man informed the officials that his son was not present. However, shortly thereafter, Portable allegedly arrived at the scene, armed with a firearm and accompanied by a group of nine thugs, and launched a violent assault on the unarmed officials.
The enforcement officers sustained various injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command, which escalated the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. While nine accomplices were apprehended, Portable reportedly fled and has remained at large since the incident.
Odutola further added that multiple formal invitations were sent to Portable, urging his attendance at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. He allegedly neglected these invitations without justified cause or legal representation.
Due to his continued evasion of law enforcement, the Ogun State Police Command has secured a valid court order declaring him wanted. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to assist the police by providing any pertinent information that could lead to his prompt apprehension. Individuals found to be aiding or harboring the suspect may face legal repercussions.
For any relevant information, the public is advised to report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official communication channels or the police public relations department.
