Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has clarified that his recent visit to his former superior, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday was not politically motivated but rather a courtesy call to the former President.

Atiku arrived at Obasanjo's residence, located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, at precisely 12:37 PM. He was accompanied by several notable figures, including former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke; former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal; and Senator Abdul Ningi, among others.

Upon their arrival, Atiku and his entourage were welcomed by elder statesman Oyewole Fasawe before proceeding to a private meeting with Obasanjo that lasted approximately one and a half hours.

Exiting the meeting at around 2:17 PM, Atiku addressed journalists and emphasized that the purpose of his visit was purely a courtesy call, stating that political matters were not discussed during the meeting.

When probed regarding whether the meeting was associated with his ambitions for the 2027 presidential election, Atiku reiterated, “I am here on a courtesy call. I am not here to talk about politics.” Efforts to elicit comments from Senator Tambuwal regarding the visit's purpose were unsuccessful, as he also refrained from addressing the matter.
