Airtel Nigeria recognized as the second-largest telecommunications operator in the country, has announced a revision of its data pricing structure along with adjustments to tariff rates, as detailed on its official website on Monday.
This price revision impacts various data bundles and reflects the persistent concerns within the industry regarding rising operational costs.
Although Airtel has not yet issued an official statement, these adjustments underscore a broader trend among telecommunications operators to review tariffs in response to inflationary pressures and fluctuations in foreign exchange rates.
In addition to the adjustments to data pricing, Airtel, which boasts a subscriber base exceeding 56 million, has also increased the tariffs for voice calls as of the previous weekend.
A senior official from the company conveyed to journalists on Monday that the increase in tariffs is “not as high as 50%.”
Despite these changes, Airtel has reassured its customers of its ongoing commitment to affordability, stating, “Regardless of your data requirements, we have a suitable plan for you. Our fast, affordable, and reliable internet service will ensure you remain connected at all times and places. To initiate your service, please dial *312#.”
The revised daily and weekly data plans are structured as follows: N50 for 40MB valid for one day; N100 for 100MB valid for one day; N200 for 200MB valid for three days; N350 for 1GB valid for one day; N350 for 350MB valid for seven days; N500 for 750MB plus 1GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for YouTube Music/Spotify valid for seven days; N500 for 1GB which includes 1GB for YouTube Night and 50MB for social media valid for seven days; N500 for 2GB valid for two days; and N1500 for 5GB valid for seven days.
Additional plans include N1,000 for 1.2GB plus 1GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for YouTube Music/Spotify for a duration of 30 days; N1,200 for 1.5GB plus 2GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for YouTube Music/Spotify for 30 days; N1,500 for 3GB plus 4GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for social media; N2,000 for 4.5GB plus 4GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for social media; N2,500 for 6GB plus 4GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for social media; N3,000 for 10GB plus 2GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for Spotify; and N4,000 for 15GB plus 2GB for YouTube Night and 200MB for Spotify.
