43,900 Candidates Excel with Five Credits and Above in 2024 WAEC for Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the results for the 2024 Second Series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates.

A total of 43,923 candidates, representing 67.55%, achieved credit or higher in a minimum of five subjects.

In a statement issued by Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, it was noted that 65,023 candidates participated in this examination. Out of this cohort, 34,878 candidates, or 53.64%, obtained credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. This figure reflects an increase of 9.35% compared to the results from 2022 and 2023.

The examination was conducted across 5,067 centers, utilizing both paper-and-pen and computer-based modalities. The candidate pool comprised 31,504 males and 33,519 females, with females representing 51.55% of the total.

WAEC confirmed that the results for 62,354 candidates, or 95.90%, have been fully processed and released. Conversely, 2,669 candidates, amounting to 4.10%, are pending results due to inaccuracies. Furthermore, the results of 2,577 candidates, or 3.96%, have been withheld due to allegations of examination malpractice.

Candidates whose results have been withheld are encouraged to visit the WAEC Notice of Examination Malpractice portal for further guidance. WAEC reiterated its commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent examination process, including provisions for candidates with special needs.
