Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, recently convened with Gabriel Suswam, the former Governor of Benue State. The meeting also included Chris Abbah, the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State.
According to the report the close door meeting has emerged amidst speculation regarding the potential formation of a political merger among various opposition figures, including El-Rufai, in anticipation of the 2027 elections.
El-Rufai has held discussions with Shehu Gabam, the chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), as well as Hamza Al-Mustapha, a former Chief Security Officer to the late General Sani Abacha, and Segun Sowunmi, an associate of Atiku Abubakar.
The meeting, which took place behind closed doors at the SDP Secretariat in Abuja, aimed to assess the current state of opposition engagement within the country.
In comments regarding the meeting, Gabam expressed his willingness to engage in discussions focused on fostering a better Nigeria.
