Traditional leaders in the Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have taken a firm stance against the issue of kidnapping in the region.

On December 24, during a special prayer session, the leaders engaged in various rituals, including pouring libations, breaking kola nuts, and using alligator pepper, to reinforce their commitment to combatting criminal activities.

Led by Eze Innocent Nwaigwe, the traditional rulers delivered a strong message regarding the consequences faced by individuals involved in kidnapping. They expressed their commitment to ensuring the safety of the local community, particularly during the Christmas and New Year festivities, and emphasized their hope for a peaceful future.

In their symbolic actions, the monarchs invoked bees as a metaphorical means to drive away kidnappers hiding in the local bush areas. They warned that those engaged in such criminal behavior would face severe repercussions, either through death or arrest, should they continue their actions.

The traditional rulers offered prayers for the safety and guidance of Governor Alex Otti, praising the current administration in Abia State for its effective handling of security and governance.

Eze Innocent Nwaigwe later stated that the monarchs were calling for divine retribution against kidnappers, seeking significant consequences for those who do not alter their criminal ways.
