Retired Military Officers Protest In Abuja Over Non-Payment Of Pensions, Other Entitlements Shutdown Finance Ministry

The Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja has been temporarily closed by members of the Nigerian Armed Forces retirees, who are organized under the Coalition of Military Pensioners.

This action, which took place on Thursday morning, stemmed from the failure to disburse the agreed salary increments of 20% to 28% for the period from January to November 2024.

As reported by Circleson Television, retired military officers from various chapters expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the Federal Government's failure to fulfill its financial obligations to them.

The retirees are advocating for several critical demands, which include the payment of palliatives covering the period from October 2023 to November 2024, an additional monthly pension of N32,000, a bulk payment of the Security Debarment Allowance (SDA), and the reimbursement of deductions made from the pensions of medically boarded personnel, among other requests.
