Describing Benue State University (BSU) as a “beacon of hope and center of excellence,” Governor Alia acknowledged the challenges the university faces. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to addressing these issues through adequate funding and strategic initiatives.
To enhance access to higher education, Governor Alia revealed plans to establish satellite campuses of Benue State University in the northeast and South Senatorial districts of the state. He explained that this initiative aims to bring educational opportunities closer to grassroots communities and to meet the increasing demand for higher education.
“This strategic expansion will enhance access to education and strengthen the university’s role in developing human capital across the state,” he affirmed.
Additionally, Governor Alia announced the donation of 500 computers to support the Computer-Based Test (CBT) center at BSU, thereby improving the institution's digital infrastructure. He also declared a 100% master’s degree scholarship for all first-class graduates, encouraging them to uphold the values of integrity and diligence. “Success is not solely about personal development; it also involves making a positive impact on society,” he conveyed to the graduates.
The governor further revealed that an executive bill has been submitted to the Benue State House of Assembly to rename the university as ‘Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu University’ in honor of its founder. He expressed optimism regarding the institution's potential to attain global recognition for its excellence.
In highlighting the administration’s focus on agricultural policies, the governor encouraged graduates to consider farming as a viable career option, assuring them of government support, including free funds and agricultural inputs, to assist them in establishing sustainable livelihoods. “While white-collar jobs are limited, agriculture presents abundant opportunities for self-reliance and societal contribution,” he emphasized.
