Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has expressed profound sorrow regarding the recent unprovoked attacks on the Anwase community within the Kwande Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that innocent residents were brutally murdered and some kidnapped during the midnight attack suspected to be Fulani Herders.
The Governor has firmly condemned this assault on unarmed citizens of Benue State by suspected armed herders, voicing concern over the persistence of such egregious acts despite the ongoing efforts of his administration to safeguard the populace.
Moreover, he has reaffirmed his commitment to employing lawful measures to protect the people of Benue, urging security personnel to enhance their surveillance operations and to ensure that vulnerable communities receive adequate protection.
He stated, "I assure you that the perpetrators of this horrific act will face severe consequences. They may believe they remain unidentified, but they will not be permitted to continue their unlawful behavior. It is merely a matter of time."
Governor Alia extended his condolences to the families who have lost loved ones in the attack and expressed sympathy for those injured.
He conveyed his thoughts and prayers for their comfort during this challenging period and reiterated his promise to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and brought to justice.
