PDP Crisis Deepens: NEC Meeting Postponed Again

PDP Crisis Deepens: Analyzing the Reasons Behind the Postponed NEC Meeting

The ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continues to develop, as the party has once again postponed its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting that was initially scheduled for November 28, 2024.

The postponement was announced in a public notice issued by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, in Abuja.

The decision to reschedule was made to allow party leaders to attend the funeral of the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, who was the wife of Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno. The funeral is set to take place from November 27 to November 29, 2024.

The notice stated: “During its meeting on Wednesday, the National Working Committee (NWC) was informed of the scheduled events for the funeral ceremony of Mrs. Eno, which coincides with the planned dates for the 99th NEC meeting. After careful consideration, the NWC recognizes the importance of party leaders being present to express condolences to Governor Eno. Consequently, we hereby inform NEC members that the 99th NEC meeting will be rescheduled to a date to be communicated later.”

“All NEC members are advised to take note of this change and to act accordingly. The NWC sincerely regrets any inconvenience this alteration may cause to our esteemed members of the NEC.”

It is important to note that this meeting was originally planned for August, subsequently rescheduled to September, then moved to October 2, and most recently deferred to November 28.
