Vice President Kamala Harris made an unanticipated visit to New York City on Saturday to participate in "Saturday Night Live," temporarily diverting her attention from the critical battleground states where she has been actively campaigning.
Harris departed on Air Force Two following an early evening campaign event in Charlotte, North Carolina. Although her itinerary initially included a stop in Detroit, aides later announced that an unscheduled stop would take place, resulting in the plane landing at LaGuardia Airport in Queens.
Her appearance involved participating in the cold open segment of the show, as confirmed by her campaign. The vice president’s motorcade arrived at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan—where SNL is filmed—shortly after 8 p.m., allowing for a brief rehearsal before the live broadcast at 11:30 p.m.
This episode constitutes the final airing of SNL before Election Day on Tuesday. The musical guest for the evening, pop artist Chappell Roan, had publicly expressed her intention to vote for Harris in September.
