Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, has expressed his support for the members of the Flying Eagles by providing a donation of N2 million following the team’s recent triumph over Cote d’Ivoire.
The team, under the management of Aliyu Zubairu, secured a 2-1 victory against the Ivorians during their final group match on Thursday, thereby advancing to the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU B U-20 Championship.
As defending champions, the Flying Eagles are set to compete against the Niger Republic in the semi-final scheduled for Saturday.
A victory in this match will ensure the team qualifies for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
The other semi-final match will feature Ghana facing Cote d’Ivoire. Notably, South Africa is designated as the host for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
