Victor Osimhen has publicly stated his decision to remain with Galatasaray during the January transfer window, thereby reaffirming his commitment to the Turkish club until the conclusion of his loan agreement.
As reported by Circleson Television, this announcement follows his recent performance, wherein he scored his fourth goal for Galatasaray during their 2-1 triumph over Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig Istanbul Derby.
The 25-year-old striker, who had been the subject of significant speculation regarding a transfer to Chelsea during the previous summer window, expressed his intentions following the match.
When inquired about his plans for the latter part of the season, Osimhen confirmed, “Yes, I am here,” as noted by Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
Osimhen has demonstrated exceptional form since transferring to the Turkish Super Lig leaders on loan from Napoli in September. He has scored in three consecutive league matches, showcasing his talent with a remarkable overhead kick against Antalyaspor in his most recent game after recovering from injury. His latest goal was a header in the 67th minute against Besiktas, following an accurate cross from Gabriel Sara, which doubled Galatasaray's lead before their opponents managed to score in stoppage time.
Despite Chelsea’s ongoing interest in acquiring his services and the improved performance of Nicolas Jackson, the club continues to seek a striker capable of consistently delivering at least 20 goals per season. Osimhen is regarded as an ideal candidate to fulfill this requirement.
The striker's impressive performances in Turkey have garnered attention from Chelsea legends John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba, both of whom have endorsed his potential transfer to their former club. Under the management of Okan Buruk, Galatasaray has significantly benefited from Osimhen’s contributions, which include four goals and four assists in just six appearances. The team currently leads the Turkish Super Lig standings with 28 points from 10 matches, maintaining an impressive record of eight wins and two draws in their last ten games across all competitions.
The victory over Besiktas has enabled Galatasaray to establish a six-point lead over second-placed Samsunspor, while their defeated rivals reside in fourth place with 20 points. With Osimhen's confirmation of his commitment to Galatasaray until the summer, it appears that Chelsea may need to postpone their pursuit of the former Lille player until 2025, as he continues to enhance his reputation within Turkish football.
