The passing of Mrs. Olubunmi Okeniyi, a Nigerian woman who recently relocated to the United Kingdom, has deeply saddened the Nigerian community in the UK.

Mrs. Okeniyi, who arrived in Sunderland with her two children on September 16, 2024, tragically passed away on October 13, 2024.

Her untimely death has raised concerns about the well-being of Nigerians relocating to the UK, as it is not an isolated incident.

This unfortunate event follows the recent deaths of other Nigerians shortly after they arrived in the UK.

The Nigerian community in the UK has announced the establishment of a GoFundMe account to seek financial assistance for Mrs. Okeniyi's burial expenses, as her husband is unable to cover the costs.

According to reports, Mrs. Okeniyi, aged 49, succumbed to breast cancer. Despite receiving medical care at home, her condition deteriorated rapidly, and she passed away at 4:30 pm on October 13, 2024.

As of the latest update, a total of £5,800 has been raised, with £3,557 collected through the GoFundMe account.
