The local government election in Rivers State took place on Saturday 5th October, 2024, with results from the state Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, indicating that the Action Peoples Party emerged victorious in 22 out of the 23 local governments. Justice Adolphus Enebeli, the Chief Election Officer of RSIEC, announced this development in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Saturday.
However, the announcement of the results for Etche Local Government Area was postponed due to ongoing results collation. Enebeli clarified that the results for Etche LGA and the 319 councillorship positions would be revealed upon the completion of the collation process.
Subsequently, RSIEC declared Uzordinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance as the winner of the poll in Etche Local Government Area.
