Morocco has been selected as the host country for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, solidifying its position as Africa’s premier sports destination.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from November 9th to November 23rd, 2024. Morocco previously hosted the 2022 edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League and has demonstrated its ability to meet the necessary conditions for hosting such events promptly.
The competition will feature eight clubs vying for the top prize, with the winners set to receive USD 400,000 and the runners-up USD 250,000 in prize money.
Mamelodi Sundowns, the current title holders, and ASFAR, another successful team, are expected to be strong contenders in the upcoming tournament. The CAF Women’s Champions League has played a pivotal role in shaping women’s football in Africa since its inception.
Morocco’s successful hosting of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2022 further underscores its capabilities in organizing major sporting events.
Six zonal tournaments were held to determine the qualifying teams, resulting in the following clubs securing their places in the CAF Women’s Champions League:
Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), ASFAR (Morocco), Aigles de la Medina (Senegal), EDO Queens (Nigeria), University of Western Cape (South Africa), Tutankhamun (Egypt), CBE FC (Ethiopia), and TP Mazembe (DR Congo).
