The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is currently maintaining suspense among stakeholders by not announcing a verdict regarding the disrupted AFCON qualifying Group A fixture, originally scheduled for October 15 at the Benina Martyrs Stadium.
According to reports from BeIN Sports, the Disciplinary Committee met with representatives from both Libya and Nigeria via video conference on Wednesday to discuss the matter, indicating that a decision has yet to be reached.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had previously determined to cancel the match between Libya and Nigeria after the Nigerian national team departed Libya in protest against the redirection of its flight to Labraq Airport, where they were reportedly detained for 18 hours without access to food or water.
The Nigerian contingent has called upon CAF to intervene in their situation, emphasizing the allegations made regarding their detention at Labraq Airport.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe stated that the situation is under investigation and highlighted that the protocols for hosting visiting teams are undergoing review. He reiterated that CAF will implement stringent measures in response to this incident and will not tolerate any breaches of conduct.
