Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has officially sanctioned a minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred Naira for Kogi Civil Servants, effective immediately.
The Governor has temporarily waived the tax obligation on this approved amount for a duration of one year.
Governor Ododo disclosed this significant development during the introduction of the new minimum wage, subsequent to the ratification of the agreement. He accentuated the necessity of promptly implementing the new wage to assist civil servants in managing the prevailing economic challenges confronting the country.
Moreover, Governor Ododo reiterated his commitment to ensuring not only the prompt implementation but also the sustained long-term existence of the new minimum wage.
He underscored the requirement for ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the government and labor to address any arising issues.
The Governor also provided assurance to the public that the state government is devoted to enhancing the well-being of its employees and establishing a favorable working environment for all.
Mr. Elijah Evenemi, Chairman of the Minimum Wage Committee, emphasized that the consensus on the minimum wage signifies a triumph for the populace rather than any political party. He expressed appreciation to the Governor for granting the committee the autonomy to strive towards a shared objective.
