Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced on Wednesday that the state government plans to implement a minimum wage of N85,000 for its workers.
This amount represents an N15,000 increase from the initially proposed N70,000 minimum wage approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made this disclosure during an interview on Channels TV, titled "One-On-One with Babajide Sanwo-Olu."
During the interview, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the decision to set the minimum wage at N85,000 was reached after discussions with the state's union.
He clarified that the wage increase is not intended to outdo other entities but is based on the state's financial capacity.
