On Thursday, Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, officially announced the release of three activists, Adaramoye Michael "Lenin," Mosiu Sodiq, and Simon Opaluwa.

These individuals had participated in the #Endbadgovernance protest and were detained until they met the bail conditions set by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The arrests occurred during the protests from August 1 to 10, where young Nigerians advocated for an end to bad governance and the reversal of certain policies under the Tinubu administration.

The activists, along with seven others, were charged with treason and brought before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

On September 11, 2024, the court granted bail to the ten defendants in the amount of ₦10 million each, with the stipulation of one surety in the same amount. The trial judge emphasized that the sureties must reside in Abuja, own properties within the city, and provide documentation to the court registrar along with an affidavit of means.
