On Friday, a fire incident occurred at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja, prompting a brief period of panic.
In confirmation of the incident, Mohammed A. Ahmed, the Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, characterized the event as a minor fire incident that transpired at 11:30 am in Block A of the Ministry.
The origin of the fire was traced to a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor.
He further relayed that the Station Commander of the Federal Fire Service, Mr. Kekai Bekebi, reported a prompt response from the fire service team, who effectively utilized available fire extinguishers to contain the situation. A successful evacuation of staff was carried out.
Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, the Director of Human Resource Management, confirmed that no documents were lost, and no injuries or casualties were recorded. He commended the staff for their orderly conduct during the incident.
Normal activities have resumed, with maintenance staff undertaking the cleanup and restoration of the affected areas.
