The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has recently undertaken a significant reorganization within his cabinet, resulting in the termination of five ministers and the appointment of seven new faces.
This decision follows the President's return from a visit to the United Kingdom and Paris. As part of the reorganization, 10 ministers have been reassigned to new portfolios, and the President has submitted the nominations of seven new ministers for Senate confirmation.
The following Ministers have been relieved of their positions:
- Uju-Ken Ohanenye as Minister of Women Affairs
- Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism
- Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education
- Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
- Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development
Among the newly nominated ministers are:
- Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
- Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, concluding the suspended tenure of Betta Edu
- Maigari Dingyadi for Minister of Labour and Employment
- Jumoke Oduwole for Minister of Industry
- Idi Maiha for the Ministry of Livestock Development
- Yusuf Ata Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
- Suwaiba Ahmad for Minister of State for Education
In addition, Shehu Dikko has been appointed as Chairman of the National Sports Commission, and Sunday Akin Dare has been appointed as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation, operating from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, as announced by the President.
The President has conveyed his appreciation to the outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council for their service to the nation and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors. He also urged the newly appointed ministers and their reassigned colleagues to consider their appointments as a call to serve the nation.
