The general public, particularly the 2024/2025 admission aspirants of Benue State University Makurdi (BSUM), is hereby informed that the sales of this year's BSUM-Post UTME Form and Direct Entry (DE) have not yet commenced.
All prospective aspirants who selected Benue State University Makurdi, BSUM as their first choice during the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are advised to await further instructions from the University management regarding the availability of the application forms.
This page will be updated once the University management enables the portal for the Post UTME and Direct Entry (DE) applications.
BSUM 2024/2024 Admission Eligibility and Qualification
- Eligible Candidates are those who scored 180 points and above in the UTME.
- Candidate who selected Benue State University, Makurdi BSUM as first choice UTME exercise.
- They must have obtained 5 O’level credit passes in relevant subjects.
- In some courses you must score higher mark for you to be eligible to apply for the admission screening form.
It is important to note that candidates who applied for Law but scored between 180 and 199 may be considered for admission into alternative courses within the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences, Education, or Management Sciences.
Similarly, candidates who applied for Medicine and Surgery in the College of Health Sciences but scored between 180 and 199 may be considered for alternative courses such as Anatomy, Nursing Science, Physiology, or any course within the Faculty of Science.
Wrong entries will automatically disqualify a candidate; and Offer of Admission will be based on an aggregate of UTME/DE score (50%); Post-UTME screening score (30%); and five (5) relevant O’ level grades(20%).

The establishment of Benue State University dates back to 1992 when it commenced its operations with an initial enrollment of 306 students and a faculty comprising 149 members. The university was instituted by the state government to enhance the specialized academic offerings of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
Preceding its inception, in 1991, a 13-member steering committee was constituted by the state government to strategize and obtain the necessary approval for the university. Subsequently, the university commenced its academic sessions for the 1992/1993 school year, offering programs through its four colleges: Arts, Education, Sciences, and Social Science.
Located in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria, Benue State University, a state-owned institution, has witnessed significant growth, with student enrollment surpassing 19,000 in 2006. It is served by 7 faculties and 23 departments, offering a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
The university boasts a comprehensive catalog featuring over 58 graduate programs spread across 9 colleges/faculties. Notably, it has received accreditation from the National Universities Commission. As of 3rd November 2020, the esteemed Professor, Prof. Tor Iorapuu, has assumed the role of Vice-chancellor, succeeding Professor Msugh Moses Kembe.
