The Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) is planning to extend its bread production operations to all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Benue State to decrease the price of bread throughout the state.

Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, the Managing Director of the company, shared this plan after leading members of his management team on an inspection of the ongoing work at the company’s second bread factory and customized polythene bags production factory in Makurdi.

The company aims to create over 5,000 new jobs by the end of the year.

The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the positive impact of the company’s bread and water production factories in the state, emphasizing that these ventures have contributed to providing affordable and higher-quality products for the people.

In addition to expanding bread production, BIPC is also venturing into customized polythene product production to create its own branded polythene bags for its bread and water factory, as well as for other clients within and outside the state.

Dr. Asemakaha commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for supporting and leading the company’s transformation drive, highlighting the company’s role in reshaping the state's narrative.

The Managing Director clarified that the new bread factory is expected to generate over 300 job opportunities for Benue youths, with the funds for the new branch being solely generated from the first factory.

He emphasized the company’s intention to expand bread production to other LGAs in the state, aiming to reduce the concentration of operations in Makurdi and mitigate risk. The company plans to extend operations to Otukpo, Gboko, Katsina-Ala, and other LGAs, with a commitment to deliver and roll out a new project every quarter.

Regarding the production of customized polythene bags and water packs, Dr. Asemakaha highlighted the cost-saving benefits of in-house production and the potential for retaining income within the state. He also underscored the company's aim to create about 5,000 new direct and indirect jobs in the state through its new investments.

The Managing Director emphasized that the company's expansion aims to bring goods and services closer to the people and reduce the unemployment rate in the state, necessitating substantial resources for machinery, equipment, and raw materials to achieve this goal.
