All candidates, regardless of their chosen field of study, are required to obtain a minimum of five credits in relevant subjects in the appropriate WAEC to be eligible for University admission
Understanding the WAEC subjects will enable students to choose the appropriate subjects for their course requirements in line with their desired university studies.

ABOUT WAEC:
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is a statutory body tasked with organizing examinations essential for the public interest within English-speaking West African nations. Established in 1952, the council administers exit examinations in five West African countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Gambia.
WAEC also manages an endowment fund that supports education in the region through lectures and assistance for underprivileged individuals. Dr. Adeyegbe, the former head of WAEC Nigeria in 2004, underscored the council's commitment to maintaining a proficient and motivated staff, as well as conducting examinations that align with the educational goals of member countries. Annually, WAEC supervises examinations for over three million candidates and collaborates with local and international examination bodies in examination coordination.
