Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has been released after his arrest at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos.
Sowore, an activist, was apprehended by officials of the Department of State Services upon his arrival in Nigeria by security personnel.
Confirming his release, Sowore informed that the Nigerian Immigration Service has returned his passport to him.
He shared the following update on X: “I have just been released by Nigerian Immigration after a brief detention, and my passport has been returned to me. #RevolutionNow”
Earlier, on Saturday, the activist had expressed concern about an alleged plan by security agencies to apprehend and incriminate him.
Sowore had stated, “Yeah! All around in my hometown, they’re tryin’ to track me down, yeah! They say they want to bring me in guilty."
