The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended former Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku, on suspicion of involvement in a N27 billion fraud.
Ishaku was taken into custody at his residence in Abuja during the early hours of Friday and remains under the custody of the anti-graft agency.
Reports from Circleson Television indicate that Ishaku faces at least 15 charges, and evidence has been compiled for his impending arraignment in court.
A source from the EFCC revealed that Ishaku has been under covert investigation since his tenure as governor.
The EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest but refrained from providing further details. This development follows the ongoing dispute between the EFCC and former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, who has been accused of embezzling N80.2 billion.
