The legal team of Nnamdi Kanu has been denied access to him by the Department of State Services (DSS). Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s lead counsel, revealed that the DSS has potentially terminated all future visits by the legal team.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Ejimakor expressed concerns that Kanu's solitary confinement is absolute, and there are fears that he may not be seen again.
Ejimakor attributed the DSS’ actions to Kanu’s conduct during his recent proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Kanu had previously challenged Justice Binta Nyako to recuse herself from the ongoing proceedings, which led to her stepping down from the case despite objections from the Federal Government's lawyers.
Ejimakor emphasized that the DSS' decision to block the legal team's access to Nnamdi Kanu is perceived as a form of retaliation against Kanu's actions, leading to his unlawful isolation from his lawyers and an absolute solitary confinement.
The future possibility of meeting with Kanu remains uncertain, raising serious concerns about his access to legal representation and rights.
