The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has provided reassurance to corps members regarding the recently approved minimum wage.
During his address to the corps members at Kebbi State Orientation Camp, Dakingari, and Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko, the DG affirmed that the monthly allowance of serving corps members will be adjusted to reflect the new minimum wage once civil servants commence receiving it.
He highlighted the invaluable and selfless contributions of corps members to the socio-economic development of the country, underscoring their impact.
General Ahmed encouraged corps members to capitalize on their service year to enhance personal development and prepare for future success. He emphasized the significance of embracing the NYSC skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development program to acquire vocational skills that will foster self-reliance.
It was reported by Tribune Online that the federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, recently reached an agreement with Organised Labour to implement a new national minimum wage of N70,000. Subsequently, the bill was passed by the National Assembly and received assent from President Bola Tinubu.
