President Tinubu Appoint New Leadership in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs

President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the appointment of seven individuals to head key agencies and programs under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, with the aim of facilitating essential relief to Nigerians and ensuring the effectiveness of humanitarian and social development programs.

Dr. Badamasi Lawal, possessing a doctorate degree in education and having previously served as a commissioner in Katsina State, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA. Ms. Funmilola Olotu, who holds a master’s degree in business administration and currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on state lotteries, will assume the role of Programme Manager for the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office.

Furthermore, Ms. Aishat Alubankudi, appointed as the Programme Manager for the Grant for Vulnerable Groups, brings with her a bachelor’s degree in community development along with experience as a risk assessor and financial manager. Princess Aderemi Adebowale, the newly appointed Programme Manager for the Home Grown School Feeding, holds a doctorate degree and has previously served as a local government chairperson, and is currently the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Civic Engagement.

The President has also appointed Mr. Abdullahi Alhassan Imam, a bachelor’s degree holder in accountancy with a background as a chief accountant at Northern Dairies Ltd and a bank manager, as the Programme Manager for the National Cash Transfer Office. Meanwhile, Mr. Ayuba Gufwan, who is the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for People with Disabilities, brings with him an LLB and serves as the executive director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre in Jos.

Lastly, Ms. Lami Binta Adamu Bello has been appointed as the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons. Possessing a Master’s degree in public administration, Ms. Bello has served in various capacities including as the Secretary-General of ALGON, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, and Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
