The family of the late Onyeka Onwenu has announced that her funeral will take place before the end of the current month. The family disclosed this information during a visit from a delegation of the Musical Society of Nigeria (MCSN), who paid their respects at Onwenu's residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Despite the sudden loss of Onwenu, her sons, Abram and Tjiani, expressed their commitment to honoring her wishes by arranging for her interment without delay. They mentioned that specific details regarding the burial will be communicated in the near future.
During the condolence visit, King Sunny Ade, visibly moved, left a heartfelt message in the condolence register, extending his well-wishes for Onwenu.
It's worth noting that Onwenu had expressed her desire for a simple and private funeral in a 2021 piece, highlighting her preference for a swift and quiet ceremony, followed by a modest gathering to celebrate her life.
