Nigerian athlete Favour Ofili achieved a season best time of 22.24 seconds, securing victory in her heat and securing a place in the Paris Olympic 2024 semi-final of the women’s 200m event.
Ofili outpaced a field that included Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Gambia’s Gina Bass-Bittaye.
Her finishing time positioned her second overall, trailing only USA’s Gabrielle Thomas who completed the race in 22.20 seconds.
Asher-Smith finished in 22.28 seconds, while Bass-Bittaye crossed the line in 22.84 seconds. Notably, this marks Ofili's inaugural participation in the Olympic Games.
