The Federal government, under the leadership of Tinubu, has rescinded the decision to offer subsidized 50-kilogram bags of rice at the price of N40,000 each to public servants.
This reversal was communicated through a circular titled "Withdrawal of internal circular on sale of subsidized rice to public servants" distributed on August 2.
The initial announcement to sell the subsidized rice, made on August 1, 2024, originated from the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs Human Resources Management Department.
The same ministry announced the cancellation of the sale; however, no explanation was provided for this abrupt change.
