In the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris, Rosemary Chukwuma, a Nigerian athlete competing in the women's 100-meter race, has successfully advanced to the semi-finals.
Chukwuma secured the third position in Heat 5 with a time of 11.26 seconds, following Poland's Ewa Swaboda (10.99s) and Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith (11.01s).
She is one of the two athletes representing Nigeria in this event.
Tima Godbless, the other Nigerian representative, despite a strong start, finished 6th in Heat 7 and will not continue to the next stage of the competition.
It is noteworthy that Favour Ofili, who was expected to participate, was not registered, leading to significant criticism of the sport's authorities in the country.
Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith of Cote d’Ivoire achieved the fastest overall time in the heats, finishing with a sub-10 time of 10.87s.
Shelly-Ann Frasher-Pryce of Jamaica secured the second position with a time of 10.92s, and Gina Luckenkemper of Germany finished third in 11.08s.
