Benue State University, Makurdi (BSUM) 2023/2024 Matriculation Ceremony

The Benue State University, Makurdi (BSUM) has officially scheduled the date for the 31st Matriculation Ceremony for new undergraduate students of the 2023/2024 academic session which is scheduled on Friday, 23rd August, 2024.

The 31st Matriculation Ceremony for new undergraduate students of the Benue State University, Makurdi 2023/2024 academic session is scheduled as follows:

  2. Time: 9:00 am
  3. Venue: New Convocation Square

All Principal Officers and Members of the Senate are requested to attend. Heads of Units and other staff members are requested to be present at the ceremony.

Members of the Senate are kindly requested to arrive at the New Convocation Square by 9:00 am as the procession will commence promptly at 10:00 am.

Deans and Heads of Departments are urged to collaborate with the Directorate of ICT or Faculty ICT staff to access the list of registered students in their Faculty and Department. They are to ensure that all eligible candidates in their respective programs are duly registered.

The orientation for registered students is scheduled for Tuesday, the 19th, Wednesday, the 18th, and Thursday, the 19th of August 2024, at the New Convocation Square. The Orientation Committee will release detailed information about the exercise. The days designated for Orientation and Matriculation will be lecture-free for new undergraduates.

Faculty Officers are authorized to begin the issuance of matriculation gowns to registered students in their respective faculties starting from Friday, 16th August 2024.

Students are required to pay a non-refundable fee of One Thousand Naira (N 1000.00) to collect a matriculation gown at Fidelity Bank Plc, account number 503002369,3, and Zenith Bank, account number 1011136506.

Students should present the bank receipt to their Faculty Officers for the collection of the items as described in point 6 above. Faculty Officers are mandated to retain receipts of gowns issued to candidates.

The Academic Office will provide appropriate matriculation gowns to the Faculty Officers for distribution to registered new students of respective faculties who have paid the fee as outlined in point 6.

All members of the Senate are directed to assign a staff member to collect their Academic gown from the Academic Office for the ceremony.

New students must return matriculation gowns to the Faculty Officers for submission to the Academic Office by Tuesday, 25th August 2024.

Late return of gowns will incur a fine of N500.00 per day payable to the Bursary Department of the University.

All new students are required to download and bring the Matriculation Oath and University Anthem (Alma Mater Song) from the University Portal (www.bsum.edu.ng) to the Orientation/Matriculation Ceremony.
