The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the suspension of its monthly clearance and weekly community development services for all corps members nationwide. This decision has been made in anticipation of the nationwide protest scheduled to take place from August 1 to 10, under the theme "End Bad Governance in Nigeria."
According to a memo addressed to State Coordinators, Local Government Inspectors (LGIs), and Zonal Inspectors (ZIs) across the 36 states of the federation, the NYSC has directed the suspension of biometric clearance and Community Development Service (CDS) activities with immediate effect.
A subsequent date for the resumption of these activities will be communicated in due course. Furthermore, corps members have been instructed not to wear their uniforms for any reason during this period and have been assured that they will be attended to in their mufti attire.
The memo reiterates the scheme's commitment to promoting unity and emphasizes its zero-tolerance stance regarding any corps member's participation in activities that could potentially lead to the disruption of law and order.
