Monarch warns protesters not to make Lagos Government regret accommodating non-indegenes

The Gbadewolu of Araromi in Lagos, Oba Lukman Adebambo, has expressed concerns regarding potential protests against the governance in the state, cautioning against actions that may lead to the destruction of infrastructure.

Oba Adebambo emphasized the need for all residents, regardless of their origin, to respect and appreciate the hospitability extended to them by Lagos State.

He urged those with grievances to pursue peaceful and constructive means of addressing their concerns, highlighting the adverse effects of previous protests, such as the #EndSARS movement, which resulted in significant destruction of public and private property.

The monarch underscored the impact of such actions on the community, noting that resources that could have been allocated to other much-needed projects are instead directed towards repairing the damages caused.

Oba Adebambo told The Nation: "Whenever there is a protest, infrastructure in Lagos State bears the brunt. People should remember that Lagos State accommodates all and indigenes should not be made to regret their accommodative gesture.

"We will, henceforth, not tolerate destruction of infrastructure under the guise of protest."

Oba Adebambo urged the agitators to seek peaceful and constructive ways to express their grievances.

He added, "Protest is not going to solve the crisis at hand. People should remember what happened during the last #EndSARS protest, a lot of things were destroyed, and lots of companies and government properties were destroyed.

"These are also part of what is affecting us today; the destroyed properties were built with public funds, and the money that were supposed to be used for other projects are being used to refurbish those properties."
