The Executive Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, has generously pledged a donation of two billion naira to establish a state-of-the-art cancer center at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH).
Governor Alia highlighted the significant impact of cancer in sub-Saharan Africa and affirmed his administration's dedication to providing high-quality healthcare.
He underscored the increased allocation for health in the 2024 budget and the approval of over 500 new staff for the hospital to enhance service delivery.
Governor Alia commended Dr. Stephen Hwande, the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, describing him as an outstanding leader capable of elevating the facility to remarkable heights.
The governor expressed confidence in Dr. Hwande's ability to realize the hospital's vision.
Furthermore, Governor Alia pledged enduring support for the hospital's goals and announced the institution of an annual scientific exhibition to raise awareness and support.
