In an endeavor to bolster civil-military collaboration in Zamfara State, Lieutenant General TY Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has exhorted the populace to furnish crucial intelligence on the whereabouts of bandits to the military for timely intervention.

This appeal was conveyed by Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, the Commanding Officer of 1 Brigade, Gusau, representing the COAS.

The COAS allocated medical supplies, writing materials, and garments to the underprivileged populace through the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade, Gusau.

During the official commencement of the distribution at 1 Brigade, Gusau, on Friday, Colonel Joseph Umaru, representing the Commanding Officer of 1 Brigade, affirmed that the initiative seeks to provide educational and livelihood support to students and less privileged individuals in the host communities.

He further expounded that these contributions were part of the Nigerian Army Day celebration in the state and encompassed quick-impact projects designed to promote civil-military harmony.

In elucidating the selection of Zamfara and Kebbi States for the donations due to the existing security challenges, he remarked, “The items provided include writing materials for chosen primary and secondary school students, as well as clothing and footwear for the less privileged in the host communities, to strengthen the amicable relationship with the Army to facilitate their operations in these states.”

He urged the host communities in Zamfara and Kebbi to cooperate with the military in combatting insurgency and other forms of criminal activity.

“I implore the honorable citizens of Kebbi and Zamfara States to persist in supporting the military by furnishing credible and timely information about criminal hideouts and any suspicious activities in their respective locales for a swift response.”
