Bayero University Kano (BUK) has taken disciplinary action against a number of students for alleged examination misconduct during the preceding academic session.
Following the university's investigation, 29 students have been expelled, and three others have been suspended. The university's management has disclosed that the suspended students will face suspensions lasting either one or two semesters. Additionally, three students were cleared of misconduct due to insufficient evidence.
Aminu Kurawa, the Acting Director of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records, confirmed that the disciplinary measures affected both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Notably, during the 413th meeting of the Senate held on July 3, 2024, 29 students were expelled, three were suspended, and 15 were warned for their involvement in examination misconduct. These actions were taken in accordance with the General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR) and the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies (GRGPS).
