Content creators in Nigeria are now eligible to generate revenue from advertisements following Meta's fulfillment of its commitment to enable monetization in the country.
As pledged in May of this year, Meta has extended the availability of Facebook monetization to Nigeria, encompassing both Instagram and Facebook for eligible Nigerian creators. This initiative has reached completion, with Nigeria being designated within the professional dashboard by Meta's parent company on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
The visit of Sir Nick Clegg, Meta’s President of Global Affairs, to Nigeria in March, also marked the announcement of this development, with a commitment to introducing a feature on Instagram in June 2024 that would enable Nigerian creators to monetize their content and earn a livelihood through the app.
Previously, content creators residing in Nigeria were ineligible for Facebook monetization unless they managed pages based in an eligible country. With this recent advancement, content creators in Nigeria can now monetize their content and earn revenue through Facebook in-stream ads, live ads, reels, bonuses, and subscriptions.
