Kano State Government orders the demolition of Ado-Bayero’s palace

The Kano State Government has issued an order for the demolition of the palace belonging to Aminu Ado-Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano.

This decision aims to facilitate the refurbishment of the palace. The state's Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, has confirmed this directive

He also stated that the Commissioner of Police has been instructed to relocate Bayero from the Nasarawa GRA mini palace where he currently resides.

In a press conference, Dederi announced that the government has finalized plans for the comprehensive reconstruction and renovation of the property. This includes the immediate demolition and reconstruction of the deteriorated wall fence.

This action follows a recent ruling by the Federal High Court on the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024, which validated thafterullifying all actions taken by Governor Abba Yusuf subsequent to its enactment.
