The spokesperson of the governor, Sanusi Bature, announced on Tuesday that Yusuf Imam has been reappointed to his previous position by Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State. This move comes after Imam was dismissed from the role for trolling the Vice President, Sen Kashim Shettima. He was relieved of his position alongside the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Adamu Aliyu. This was after they issued a death threat to judges of the state's governorship electoral petition tribunal.
In September of last year, the government's spokesperson, Halilu Dantiye, announced the dismissal of both officials from their positions, citing that their views do not represent the official position of the Kano State government under Governor Yusuf. During his announcement, he stated that Imam made unguarded and disrespectful statements about His Excellency Alhaji Kashim Shettima GCON, who is the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to Premium Times, both men have now been reappointed eight months later. Aliyu was reappointed in March, while Imam was recalled in April. Governor Yusuf has also approved the appointments of additional special advisers and other heads of government agencies.
Professor Ibrahim Barde was appointed as the Special Adviser on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Abdulhamid Danladi was appointed the Special Adviser on Diaspora, and Bello Kiru took on the role of Special Adviser on Water Resources.
Other appointees include Nura Shanono, who transitioned from Special Adviser on Water Resources to Managing Director of Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA), Baba Umar, who moved from Special Adviser to the Executive Secretary of the Private and Voluntary Institutions Management Board, and Nasir Muhammad, who was appointed as Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Aminu Bako was also appointed as Deputy Managing Director of the Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA), and Mukhtar Yusuf was appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA).
Bature confirmed that all appointments are effective immediately.
