The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, or the "Mummy of Lagos", a well-known celebrity cross-dresser, on allegations of Naira abuse, and has since commenced investigations into the matter.
The arrest took place on Wednesday at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State, according to Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson. Oyewale also stated that Bobrisky would soon be charged in court.
The investigation stems from a report which alleges that the 31-year-old celebrity sprayed and flaunted wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie, Ajakaju, produced by the Nollywood actress and producer, Eniola Ajao, at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos on March 24, 2024.
The EFCC operatives had summoned Bobrisky to their office for questioning, and the investigation revealed that he had also committed the alleged offense at other event centers and parties on various occasions.
Bobrisky was arrested by the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024, for interrogation and has provided his statement. Following the completion of the investigation, he will be charged to court and possibly be in jail for the crime committed.
